Communicating Concerns
School board members and school administrators strive to make decisions through the lens of the mission and vision of the school. We seek to partner with parents and appreciate constructive feedback in our work. Sometimes members of the community contact a school board member with concerns, suggestions, or questions. We follow a communication protocol, beginning with the staff member most directly related to your question or concern and then proceeding to their immediate supervisor and so forth. We are committed to communication through Regina’s chain of command as follows:
As we are encouraged in the Gospel of Matthew “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone.” (Mt 18:15). For a school concern, the best place to begin is with those directly involved. For example:
- Teacher/Coach/Moderator
- The teacher for a student-related or classroom concern
- The coach/moderator/director for a concern in an activity or club
- The principal regarding a school regulation or practice
- Principal or Activities Director
- Head of School
- Board of Discipline (If Applicable)
- Board of Education
Please keep in mind that board members as individuals have no authority. The board only has authority through decisions made by majority votes during official board meetings.
You may contact reginaboard@regina.org to reach the Board of Education.
Addressing the Board
Any member of the Regina community is welcome to address the Board of Education at a regularly scheduled meeting. To address or make comments at a Board meeting, you must be included in the agenda in advance of the meeting. Requests must be made by 5:00 p.m. the Wednesday prior to the Board Meeting by contacting the Executive Committee via email boardexec@regina.org.
Those requesting to address the board are reminded of the requirement to follow the chain of command before approaching the board in matters regarding specific concerns: teacher/coach/director, school administrator, Head of School, then Board.
Comments are limited to two minutes per guest with a maximum of 30 minutes for all guest comments.
